The College of Business and the Graduate Program in Public Health have created a combined MPH/MBA program.  The purpose of the combined degree program is to prepare students for a management career in the health care field. The MPH/MBA program combines a 45 credit MPH degree and a 48 credit MBA degree.  It includes 21-23 credits of overlap (see below for details), which reduce the total number of credits in the joint program from 93 to 72-73 credits.  Students choose either the Evaluative Sciences or Public Health Practice concentration in the MPH program.

Admissions Process:
The admissions process starts with an application to the Graduate Program in Public Health.  Please indicate that you wish to participate in the combined degree program.  Those applicants accepted by the Graduate Program in Public Health for the MPH degree are then forwarded to the College of Business for review and approval.   The College of Business accepts the admissions information required by the public health program so that applicants will not have to provide any further information or take any additional tests for the combined program.  We expect students seeking to enter the combined degree program to address their interests in such a program in their personal statement, which is part of all graduate student applications.

Completion of the Program:

The College of Business currently offers a 48 credit MBA degree (16 courses) for students with an advanced degree such as an MPH.  Students in the combined MPH/MBA degree complete MBA courses including finance, financial accounting, marketing, leadership, technological innovation, operations management, organizational behavior, ethics and law, and business planning.
The Graduate Program in Public Health currently offers a 45 credit MPH degree program. Students in the combined degree program complete MPH courses including research methods, biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental and occupation health, social and behavioral determinants of health, data management, demography, and demography.  Students complete both the MBA Industry project and the MPH Practicum.

Students receive both degrees upon completion of the entire program.  If a student decides to leave before completing both degrees, he or she would receive the MPH or MBA if he or she completed the course requirements for one of the degrees.
