3. Admissions - decision-making considerations:

Admission is open to all, regardless of undergraduate major. Almost all students admitted have undergraduate cumulative grade point averages (or cumulative graduate grade point averages, in the case of applicants holding advanced degrees) of 3.25 or better on a 4.00-point scale.

In making admissions decisions, the College of Business Admissions Committee applies a partially compensatory decision process. Under this process, exceptional strength in terms of GMAT (MCAT, LSAT or GRE) scores, GPA, or work experience can offset minor deficiencies in another area. However, no exceptions are made to the TOEFL/TOEIC minimum score requirement for those for whom TOEFL/TOEIC scores are required.

Admitted students are expected to have access to a PC running Windows and Microsoft Office, and familiarity with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

New students can begin the program in the fall or spring semester. The application deadline for the fall semester is January 15th and for the spring semester is October 1. Applications will be considered after these deadlines as long as space is available.

What Our Students Are Saying

Student
Susana Li, BA/BS+MBA program alumna
"As a student majoring in biology for my undergraduate studies, the combined degree MBA program broadened my views and brought about endless career opportunities. Long lasting friendships and networks were built while preparing hands-on projects that reinforced and complemented the educational material taught in class. I believe that the projects provided me with real life job experience that helped greatly when starting my career.

I currently work as a Retail Bank Management Associate for HSBC, a global leader in the finance industry.

I would definitely recommend any business program provided by the College of Business at Stony Brook to my colleagues and friends. The faculty and staff are very dedicated to their work. You get the sense that they want to pass on their knowledge and business experiences once you walk into the classrooms. There is a lot of room for interactive learning, networking and pure fun once you open your heart to the opportunities that are out there."
